HP MSR2000/3000/4000 Router Series Layer 2 - WAN Configuration Guide

• Enhanced security—When placing a return call, the server dials the calling number configured at
the local end. This prevents the insecurity resulting from username and password compromise.
• Payer change—This is useful for saving costs when the call rates in two directions are different.
• Consolidated call charge bills—Facilitating settlement.
Only ISDN caller identification callback feature is available.
PPPoE client through DDR
DDR delivers PPPoE client implementation in one of the following modes:
• On-demand mode—A connection is dialed when there is a demand for data transmission. It is
disconnected when idled for a specific period of time.
• Permanent mode—A connection is automatically dialed immediately after the line is physically up.
It remains valid permanently. If the connection is disconnected, a new connection is automatically
redialed.
• Diagnostic mode—A connection is dialed immediately after the device configurations are complete,
and it automatically terminates and then tries to re-establish at a pre-configured interval.
A PPPoE client provides the dialing function by associating a dialer interface and configuring PPP and
DDR parameters on the dialer interface. For more information about configuring a PPPoE client, see
"Configuring PPPoE."
