Load the upgrade Boot ROM
image.
• MSR2000/MSR3000:

• MSR4000:

Specify the downloaded software
image file for the file-url argument.
The new Boot ROM image takes
effect at a reboot.
Specifying the startup image file and completing
the upgrade
The procedure for the MSR4000 router differs from the procedure for the MSR2000 or MSR3000
routers.
On the MSR2000/MSR3000 router
Perform this task in user view.

startup image files.
• Specify an .ipe startup
image file:

• Specify .bin startup image
files:

Upgrade files must be saved in the root
directory of the storage medium.
2. Save the running
configuration.

This step ensures that any configuration
you have made can survive a reboot.
3. Reboot the device.

At startup, the device reads the
preloaded Boot ROM image to RAM,
and loads the startup images.
4. (Optional.) Verify the
software image settings.

Verify that the current software images
are the same as the main or backup
startup software images.
