2. Prepare a USB disk.
3. To use the name Device serial number.cfg for the configuration file, use the display device
manuinfo command to obtain the device's serial number. For more information about this
command, see Fundamentals Command Reference.
4. Save the configuration file to the root directory of the USB disk. Name the configuration file Device
serial number.cfg or autodeploy.cfg.
5. Connect the USB disk to the interface on the device for usba0.
The device does not check the USB disk for automatic configuration after it starts up.
6. Power on the device.
The USB-based automatic configuration process is started.
7. Observe the SYS LED. If this LED quickly flashes green for 5 seconds, the automatic configuration
is successful. If this LED quickly flashes yellow for 10 seconds, the automatic configuration has
failed. If the automatic configuration fails, the system writes log messages to a log file in the root
directory of the USB disk. The log file is named Fully qualified configuration file name.log. You can
use the log message for troubleshooting.
8. If the automatic configuration process is successful, remove the USB disk.
If you do not remove the USB disk, the device might start USB-based automatic configuration at the
next reboot.
9. If you removed one MPU in step 1, install the MPU. (On an MSR4000.)
The MPU synchronizes the active MPU's configuration.
10. Save the running configuration.
