Link
Physical connection state of the interface:
• UP—The interface is physically up.
• DOWN—The interface is physically down.
• ADM—The interface is shut down manually. You can bring
up the interface with command undo shutdown.
Protocol
Data link layer protocol state of the interface:
• UP—The data link layer is up.
• DOWN—The data link layer is down.
• UP(s)—The data link layer protocol state of the interface is
up, but its link is an on-demand link or not present.
Main IP Primary IP address of the interface.
Description
Description for the interface configured with command
description.
The display interface brief command displays the first 27
characters when you do not specify the description keyword.
The command displays the entire description when you specify
the description keyword.
Cause
Cause for a down physical link:
• Administratively—The link was shut down with the shutdown
command. To restore the physical state of the interface, use
the undo shutdown command.
• Not connected—No physical connection exists (typically due
to network wire failures).
interface efm
Use interface efm to enter EFM interface view or EFM subinterface view. Before you enter EFM
subinterface view, the command creates the subinterface and enters its view if the specified subinterface
does not exist.
Use undo interface efm to remove an EFM subinterface.
Syntax
interface efm { interface-number | interface-number.subnumber }
undo interface efm interface-number.subnumber
Default
No EFM subinterface is created.
