Configuration restrictions and guidelines
When you configure MP for DDR, follow these restrictions and guidelines:
The dialer threshold, ppp mp max-bind, and ppp mp min-bind commands must be configured in
dialer interface view. When you configure all three commands, the system dials min-bind-num links.
If the traffic exceeds traffic-percentage, the system dials other idle links until the number of bundled
links reaches max-bind-num or the traffic falls below traffic-percentage. The dialed min-bind-num
links are not disconnected due to timeout.
If you set the link load threshold to zero, DDR brings up all available links when triggered by
auto-dial or packets instead of first looking at the traffic size. In addition, it does not tear down
established links based on the timer configured by using dialer timer idle command.
If you do not set a link load threshold but you set min-bind-num, the system uses min-bind-num links
for MP bundling. If you do not set min-bind-num, the system uses one link for MP bundling, and the
max-bind-num you set does not take effect.
HP recommends that you configure the dialer threshold, ppp mp max-bind, and ppp mp min-bind
commands on one end of the call. When the configured values are not the same on the two ends
of the call, the following values take effect:
{ The smaller threshold value.
{ The smaller upper limit of links.
{ The greater lower limit of links.
Configuration procedure
To configure MP for DDR:
Ste
p
Command
Remarks
1. Enter system view.
system-view N/A
2. Configure the interval for DDR
to provide traffic statistics.
dialer flow-interval interval
The default is 20 seconds.
This command provides traffic
statistics on dialup links for MP.
3. Enter dialer interface view.
interface dialer number N/A
4. (Optional.) Set link load
thresholds.
dialer threshold traffic-percentage
[ in | in-out | out ]
By default, no load threshold is set.
5. (Optional.) Set the upper limit
of links in an MP bundle.
ppp mp max-bind max-bind-num
The default setting is 16.
For more information about this
command, see Layer 2—WAN
Access Configuration Guide.
6. (Optional.) Set the lower limit
of links in an MP bundle.
ppp mp min-bind min-bind-num
By default, the lower limit is 0, and
DDR brings up links depending on
traffic size.
For more information about this
command, see Layer 2—WAN
Access Configuration Guide.
