HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.2.0a Release Notes (5697-6482, February 2007)
End-to-End performance monitoring for Fabric OS 4.1.2 to 4.2.2b
For switches running Fabric OS 4.1.2 to 4.2.2b, the PSD might crash after enabling End-to-End
Performance Monitoring from Fabric Manager 4.4 a n d later. This could le ad to a switch reboot or failover.
Workaround: Upgrade to Fabric OS versions later than 4.2.2b, 4.4.0d, or 5.0.1; or disable end-to-end
performance monitoring from Fabric Manager.
Fabric discovery
If you use Fabric OS 4.4.0c or earlier 4.x releases as the launch switch, you will not see any devices in
Fabric Manager for the fabric if the FDMI-capable devices are configured with port attributes.
Workaround: Upgrade to Fabric OS versions later than 4.4.0d or 4.4.2.
HBA firmwa
re download
• When using Fabric Manager to download firmware to the HBA, in some cases invalid firmware
files are downloaded. This causes the operation to report that it has finished successfully;
however,
the firmware is corrupted when rebooted.
This is not a switch issue. The HBA loads any files, even if they are not meant to be loaded.
• Firmware download does not work for certain earlier and unsupported versions of HBA firmware,
driver, a
nd HBAnyware versions.
Workaround: UsethelatestversionsofHBAfirmware,driver,andHBAnyware.
HBAnyware
Some older versions of HBAnyware do not support more than eight HBAs in the same host. More than
eight HBAs in the same host causes intermittent firmware download failures, and also can cause the host
to crash. See the Emulex documentation for HBAnyware limitations.

Performance m onitoring port statistics
• If you are running Fabric OS that is 4.2.0b or earlier, the Performance Monitoring port statistics
for it are returned incorrectly. You must upgrade the firmware on the switch to Fabric OS 4.2.0c
or later.
• Switches running Fabric OS v2.6x that enable port statistics could receive an error code (-89)
indicating that all RPC connections are in use and no additional connections can be opened.
Workaround: Reboot the switch or use a different launch switch that is not running Fabric OS
v2.6x.
Subnet scan
After you run a subnet scan, any subsequent subnet scans will not discover fabrics properly. Problem
has
only occurred in Windows XP Pro with SP2.
Workaround: Restart the Fabric Manager client and run a new subnet scan.
