This diagram depicts physical storage divided into
two redundancy groups. Hard drives in the odd
numbered drive bays are in redundancy group 1.
Hard drives in the even numbered drive bays are
in redundancy group 2.
Two LUNs are shown. LUNs aggregate the
storage in a single redundancy group into one or
more general “pools” of storage.
Two volume groups are shown. Volume groups
combine one or more LUN storage pools into a
“volume” of storage that can be allocated by the
NAS 8000 operating system for use.
Four file volumes are shown. File volumes partition
the storage volumes into accessible storage (file
systems).
Eight directories are shown. These are also CIFS/
SMB shares that the clients can use to gain access
to the NAS 8000 storage
