Chapter 9 Issues and Problem Resolution
Entries in the Syslog are recorded as Errors, Warnings, or just Information. Since all
activities of the controller fall into one of these categories, during normal operation,
the entries in the log will be very limited. The number of entries increases
significantly during failures and errors such as when Unix messages refer to the
controller as AAC rather than HPN.
Impact to Customer: Significant. The number of entries in the event log or syslog
increases during device failures and errors. This is the time when the detailed
information becomes crucial.
Additional Information: During a Red Hat Linux installation, the software refers
to Adaptec, not to HP.
Workaround: The suggested workaround would be to make sure that the user is
aware that the HPN/HPNRAID/hpn/hpnraid and AAC/AACRAID/aac/aacraid is
the same controller. The name AAC is synonymous with HPN.

34 Linux driver to support 2.4 kernel
Problem: The Linux 2.4 kernel added new features to the system. One of these
features was the ability to have I/O transfers greater than 64 KB. The NetRAID-4M
driver did not support this capability.
Resolution: The transfers greater than 64 KB have been enabled in the newest patch
that has been delivered to the Open Source community.
