Chapter 9 Issues and Problem Resolution
Problem: When the Toptools Agent is installed on Windows NT 4.0 or Windows
2000 and a NetRAID-4M manageability agent is installed, but the management
driver, located in the FAST utility kit, is not installed, the following event is
generated by the SNMP service in the event log upon reboot:
Event ID: 1106
Source: SNMP
Type: Warning
Category: None
Resolution: The NetRAID-4M manageability agent will only be installed when the
NetRAID-4M card is present. This is fixed in HP Netserver Navigator CD, version
L.19.00 and above.
45 System event log shows occasional bogus errors for unsupported
commands
Problem: On rare occasions, certain unsupported SCSI commands are rejected and
posted into the event log. Cause is unknown and under investigation.
Workaround: Ignore and/or delete the event log.
46 NetRAID-4M posts a drive failed error message, then recovers
Problem: A drive reported an uncorrectable read error (03-11). The NetRAID-4M
posted an error message in the event log. Then the drive began BBR (Bad Block
Replacement), was able to rebuild the missing data from the other RAID members,
and therefore did not flash the drive LED.
Frequency of Occurrence: Found on the rare occasion of a bad sector on an
otherwise good drive.
Impact: Customer is notified of a failed drive without any other status about
successful recovery. BBR starts up but does not show recovery status. FAST
temporarily marks the drive with a gray flag.
Root Cause: If BBR fails, the drive LED blinks. However, if BBR completes
successfully, the drive LED does not blink.
Workaround: Ignore and/or delete the event log.
