Disk Manager (DM)
MS Windows 2000 tool. It is equivalent to the NT4 Disk Administrator.
Drive Letters
Drive letters are assigned to volumes for easy identification when referring to the
exact location of a file.
Drives per Container:
Dynamic Disk
MS Windows 2000 term that refers to a file system with a completely new set of
meta data to determine layout. In Windows 2000, all software RAID sets must use
dynamic disk. Based on the Veritas model, this is the recommended way for new
disks to be prepared on Windows 2000.
Flexible Array Storage Tool (FAST)
The graphical user interface configuration tool that runs as a Windows application.
File System
A method of keeping track of a file's location and security (for example: FAT,
NTFS). Uses directories and clusters to store the data.
