HP NetRAID-4M Configuration and Upgrade Guide (Release 5)
7
NetRAID-4M release 5 software components are available on the HP web site.
These components (firmware, drivers, and utilities) are designed and tested to work
together. Mismatched sets are not supported for the following reasons:
• Each set of components is created in a build process that verifies the integrity of
the files and the completeness of the components.
• Each build is tested with an integrated set.
• If there is a difference in data structures between sets, the problem may not be
exposed until the card is stressed-for example under a heavy load.
• There are changes in functionality that go into certain components. Mixing them
will disable such functionality changes. The same applies to bug fixes.
Determining the Installed Software Component
Versions
There are two ways of determining the installed versions of the NetRAID-4M
software components. Depending on your operating system, this can be done either
using the FAST utility or the CLI (Command Line Interface) utility.
Using the FAST Utility With Windows NT or Windows 2000
You can use either the FAST or the CLI utility to determine the installed build
numbers of each of the HP NetRAID-4M software components if you are running
Windows NT or Windows 2000. The FAST utility is easier to use.
4NetRAID-4M Software
NOTE Release 5 consists of the same software versions as release 4
with the following exceptions:
• Firmware (ver. 4632)
• NetWare Drivers (ver. 4629)
If updating a system that is currently running release 4, only
the driver (if updating a NetWare system) and the firmware
need to be updated. If you’re updating a system that is running
software earlier than release 4, then all the software will need
to be updated.
