HP NetRAID-4M Configuration and Upgrade Guide (Release 5)
Chapter 9 Issues and Problem Resolution
72
These error messages usually occur when the entire free space has been allocated for
partitioning or after using DISKADD, and these error messages appear with or
without the NetRAID-4M controller installed.
Workaround: Ignore the errors. No action is required.
68 FSCK failure
Problem: After power down and reboot, file system check (FSCK) will sometimes
fail with a system panic during boot. The root cause is that a read operation has
returned fewer bytes than it should have. This is described in the Caldera UnixWare
errata as: “Buf_breakup sends incorrect scatter gather lists down to the HBA and
causes a panic for BA_SCGTH case.”
Workaround: Download and install the latest Caldera UnixWare Support Level
Supplement from the Caldera web site:
1. Go to http://www.caldera.com/support
.
2. Look for the readme file that describes this problem, as well as the patch.
69 UnixWare installation issues
Problem: During the boot process the system may not be able to distinguish which
installed card is the bootable device.
Workaround: During installation of UnixWare, remove all disk controller cards
except the boot controller until the operating system installation is complete. Then
add in the other cards. You may also need to disable the embedded SCSI controller
device during operating system installation.
1. Make the following changes in the server BIOS settings by pressing F2 during
bootup:
o Select “PCI Device Settings,” “PCI IRQ Locking,” “Individual IRQ
Locking.” Disable the following devices:
¾ Embedded LVD SCSI A
¾ Embedded LVD SCSI B
¾ Embedded SE SCSI
NOTE The following example assumes NetRAID-4M is installed and
will be the boot controller.
