Checklist:
1 Inspect cables and ensure they are seated properly. DO NOT
UNPLUG CABLES.
2 Inspect external physical components.
3 View Operating System/Server Management logs.
4 Run Server Management Utilities for your NOS to determine the
status of containers.
5 Follow prompts, if given, by Server Management Utility.
6 Select Drive View and identify suspected drive(s)
Symptom: One Drive Failure
To recover from the One Drive Failure symptom:
1 Attempt to bring drive online. The Rescan Command can be used to
find new devices.
2 If drive does not come online, substitute spare drive, if available.
3 If drive still fails to come online, try the drive in another slot, if
available. This will verify drive connection.
4 If drive comes online, the default configuration of the
HP NetRAID-4M Controller will rebuild the container.
5 Run consistency check on RAID 5 or 50 only. If the container is
redundant (RAID 1, 5, 10, 50), then run consistency check. This
action regenerates parity data and restores integrity of the redundant
array. If the container is not redundant, restore your data from tape
backup.
Symptom: Multiple Drive Failure
To recover from the Multiple Drive Failure symptom:
1 Shut down the OS.
2 Power cycle Server and any external disks.
3 If drive comes online, run consistency check on RAID 5 or 50 only.
This action regenerates parity data and restores integrity of the
redundant array.
