Integrated HP NetRAID Controller Hardware
The integrated HP NetRAID controller includes the following hardware, which is
described in Table 1-3:
• IOP: The IOP (I/O Processor) for the integrated HP NetRAID controller
directs all functions of the controller, including command processing, PCI
and SCSI bus transfers, RAID processing, drive rebuilding, cache
management, and error recovery.
• Integrated HP NetRAID memory: Integrated HP NetRAID memory is
required for integrated HP NetRAID operation. It includes the RAID
cache memory.
• Battery Backup: For HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r, LH 6000/6000r, and
LT 6000r, the integrated HP NetRAID memory can be backed up by an
optional battery backup module.

The integrated HP NetRAID controller supports Direct or Cached I/O and Write
Through or Write Back caching, which can be selected for each logical drive. To
improve performance in sequential disk accesses, the integrated HP NetRAID
controller uses Adaptive Read Ahead caching by default, but it can be set to
Normal (Read ahead disabled) or to simple Read Ahead caching.
