Integrated HP NetRAID Controller Config. Guide

1
Introduction
This chapter describes the integrated HP NetRAID controller and its SCSI
channels, hardware, firmware, and features. This chapter also tells you about this
guide and other information sources.
Integrated HP NetRAID Controller
The integrated HP NetRAID controller in the HP NetServer provides an integral
disk array storage system. The controller uses the PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) standard to control data transfers on SCSI channels.
The integrated HP NetRAID controller lets you link multiple hard disk drives
together and write data across them as if they were one large drive. With it, you
can configure your linked drives in a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent
Disks) subsystem.
Channels and Devices
Mass storage channels SCSI A and SCSI B can be configured to operate either in
HP NetRAID mode, or in non-RAID SCSI or LVD SCSI mode, as listed in
Table 1-1.
HP NetServers LH 3/3r and LH 4/4r also have a single-ended (SE) SCSI
connector linked to SCSI B. In HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LH
6000/6000r, the SE SCSI channel is independent of SCSI A and SCSI B.
