Replacing the IL Cable
The IL (IOP Link) cable provides a direct Ethernet connection between the IOPs.
Caution: Before proceeding, make sure you are properly grounded using, for instance, a
wrist strap with an attached alligator clip that is connected to an appropriate
ground.
To replace an IL cable:
Step Action Notes
1 Obtain a replacement IL cable. Obtain the appropriate cable that meets the
specifications for your Ethernet adapter.
2 Decide which IOP can be removed with the
least impact to your system, and shut down
that IOP, as described on page 210.
3 Detach the IL cable from IOP1 and IOP2.
4 Install the new IL cable by attaching it to
IOP1 and IOP2.
5 Reboot the IOP that you shut down in Step
step 2.
6 Using Endurance Manager:
• Reenable any faulted or disabled
components (page 241).
• Make sure that any components affected
by this procedure are active or online.
