Chapter 5 MtcDgs Messages
IOPn.MtcDgs status: Invalid Ethernet packet received.
Severity Warning
Description A network adapter provided MtcDgs with an Ethernet packet with a data length greater than
1500 bytes, or with a header length not equal to 14 bytes. The Event Viewer Data section of
this message contains the data length. This message can indicate a problem with the NIC.
Action You can ignore this message unless it is logged frequently.
IOPn.MtcDgs status: Invalid Registry parameter. Using default value.
Severity Warning
Description An optional Registry parameter had a value outside the allowable range. The Event Viewer
Data section identifies the offending Registry parameter value.
IOPn.MtcDgs status: NIC receive data lookahead buffer is too small.
Severity Error
Description When an Ethernet packet is received, a NIC provides access to some portion of the packet data
(a lookahead buffer) during the initial stage of receive processing. This message is returned
when, during initialization, MtcDgs queries the NIC and discovers the lookahead buffer size
is too small to support MtcDgs operations. This message can occur after initialization if the
NIC provides MtcDgs with an invalid packet.
Action Download and install the latest adapter driver.
IOPn.MtcDgs status: Receive packet allocation failure.
Severity Warning
Description MtcDgs was unable to allocate the resources needed to receive an incoming Ethernet packet.
Occasional resource errors can occur without a significant impact because packets are
retransmitted by MtcDgs on the remote IOP.
Action If excessive receive packet allocation failures occur, contact your service provider for
assistance.
