HP NetServer AA 6200 Solution Release 3.0 Messages
Chapter 7 MtcEthP and MtcEtx Messages

IOPn.MtcEtx status: Ethernet transmit error.
Severity Warning
Description The IL adapter was unable to transmit an Ethernet packet. Occasional transmit errors can
occur, and the packet is retransmitted by MtcEtx. A large number of transmit errors can
indicate a problem with the adapter or the Ethernet cable.
If both IOPs are booted and joined, a disconnected cable or faulty adapter causes MtcEtx to
report an error to the Fault Handler. The Fault Handler will deconfigure one of the IOPs.
Related Messages
IOPn.MtcMon callout: Bidirectional path IOP1 <-> IOP2
Action • Make sure that the IL cable is appropriate for the NICs in use in your system.
• Run the diagnostics on the adapter.
• Use the HP NetServer AA Manager to examine the MtcEtx port counters. Excessive
retransmits or receive out of sequence errors indicate a problem with the cable or the
adapter.
• Verify that the adapter was set up correctly (for example, 100MB full duplex).
See Also For IL configuration information, refer to Chapter 3 in HP NetServer AA Solution Installation
Guide.
IOPn.MtcEtx status: Incomplete transfer of incoming Ethernet packet to the receive buffer.
Severity Warning
Description The IL adapter was unable to copy the entire Ethernet packet to a receive buffer owned by
MtcEtx. The error usually occurs because the NIC was reset while a receive was in progress.
IOPn.MtcEtx status: Initialization error.
Severity Error
Description This message is logged during initialization as the result of failure of a Windows NT kernel
mode system routine. The Event Viewer Data section contains the Windows NT or NDIS error
code. MtcEtx aborts initialization.
Action • Check the Event Viewer for non-HP NetServer AA errors, such as those logged by the
NIC driver.
• If necessary, reboot the IOP. Refer to Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution
Administrator’s Guide for information about how to reboot an IOP.
