Keyboard and Pointer Redirector Messages
A critical error occurred initializing the Keyboard Pointer Redirector.
Severity Error
Source MtcKmR
Description This is a fatal error that causes the Keyboard Pointer Redirector to abort initialization. As a
result, keyboard and pointer devices will not be available on the CEs. This message can occur
because of:
An error registering with the CE Transport API.
A failure to synchronize with the IOP-based Keyboard Pointer Provider. This failure can
be caused by: resource errors, a provider response timeout, or a provider protocol version
mismatch.
Memory allocation failures.
When this message occurs, the event log dump contains an additional Windows NT status
code.
Related Messages In the IOP event logs:
IOPn.MtcKmP status: Keyboard pointer Redirector-Provider protocol
version mismatch.
Action Check the IOP event log for Keyboard Pointer Provider errors.
Because the keyboard and pointer devices are not available on the CE, try to access the CE
event log from a remote system.
On the CE, examine any entries logged by MtcKmR. View the event data as Words. The
last longword (4 bytes) of data should contain an additional HP NetServer AA error code
which can be used by your service provider to help diagnose the problem.
