Chapter 11 Keyboard and Pointer (MtcKmP) Messages
A non-critical error occurred initializing the Keyboard Pointer Redirector.
Severity Warning

Description This message can occur for the following reasons:
Error creating a symbolic link.
Error writing to the \HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP Registry key. The event log dump data
contains an additional Windows NT status code.
Additional symptoms associated with this message are: the pointer device is not available on
the CEs, or some 16-bit applications may not run. When this message occurs, the event log
dump data contains an additional Windows NT status code.
Action Check the CE event log for additional messages logged by the keyboard and mouse class
drivers.
View the event data as Words. The last longword (4 bytes) of data should contain a
Windows NT error code that can be used by your service provider to help diagnose the
problem.
Invalid Registry parameter. Using default value.

Description This is a warning indicating that an illegal value was defined in the CE Registry under
Services\MtcKmR\Parameters.
Action View the message data as Words. The last longword (4 bytes) of data contains the illegal
value. All MtcKmR parameters are optional and should not be modified unless you are
instructed to do so by your service provider.
Delete the parameter or override the current value with 0 to correct the condition.
Memory allocation failure.
Severity Error
Description This is a severe resource error that occurs only if your CE is out of non-paged memory. Under
some circumstances, this is a fatal error.
