HP Netserver AA Solution Administrator's Guide v4.0 SP1

Endurance Server Maintenance 9-13
Replacing the IL Fiber or Cable
The IL provides a direct Ethernet connection between the IOPs.
Caution: Before proceeding, make sure you are properly grounded using,
for instance, a wrist strap with an attached alligator clip that is
connected to an appropriate ground.
To replace an IL fiber or cable:
Step Action Notes
1 Obtain a replacement IL cable. Obtain the appropriate fiber or cable that meets
the specifications for your Ethernet adapter.
2 Decide which IOP can be removed with
the least impact to your system, and
shut down that IOP, as described on
page 9-5.
3 Detach the IL cable from the NICs in
IOP1 and IOP2.
Verify that all client networks remain online.
4 Install the new IL cable by attaching it to
IOP1 and IOP2.
5 Reboot the IOP that you shut down in
step 2.
6 Using Endurance Manager:
Reenable any faulted or disabled
components (page 9-31).
Make sure that any components
affected by this procedure are active
or online.
