Mirrored Disk States
The mirrored disk states are:
Table 2-8 Mirrored Disk States
State Description
Online Indicates that a disk is available for use or is currently in use by the CE operating system.
As a mirror copy begins, a mirror copy target transitions from offline to online and
remains online when the mirror copy completes successfully. However, if the copy
cannot complete successfully because of some system-wide state change or because of
a disk level state change, the disk state transitions to offline or faulted.
Offline Indicates that a disk is not available for use by the CE operating system. A disk can be
offline because either:
The disk is the target of a mirror copy that is pending (not started).
The disk was not detected during system boot. Possible reasons include the disk was
powered off, failed, or was improperly defined using the Endurance Configuration
Utility.
The disk was detected during system boot, but a characteristic of the disk was invalid.
Possible reasons include: a corrupt or invalid partition table, a corrupt or invalid
Endurance sector, or the disk was the target of a mirror copy that previously failed to
complete.
The mirror copy target is too small for a given mirror copy source. In this case, the
target disk remains offline indefinitely and must be replaced by a larger disk.
Standby The disk is available online, but is not an up to date copy of the mirror set.
