Installation Overview

Configure ISA non-plug-and-play boards (if installed)

Select Network Operating System (NOS)

Verify contents

Ensure that your software is the latest revision

View the Readme File

Test the system hardware using Diagnostic Assistant (optional)

Install all hardware accessories

Verify installed hardware accessories (optional)

Install NOS

For certain versions of Novell NetWare and Microsoft Windows NT , you may

use the HP automated installation process. Install the NOS using the HP-guided

installation process.

For NOSs using a vendor-installation process, create NOS drivers diskette, and

view and print HP NOS Installation Instructions. Install the NOS using the

vendor-supplied installation utility and instructions.

If your NetServer has a preinstalled tape backup device, install and configure

the tape backup software.

Install HP TopTools server management software (optional). Refer to the

7 Install Additional Memory 1. Remove the cover: If you have not yet removed the cover, remove it System Board and the cooling duct/cover as described in panel 6: "Remove the Cover." 2. Install the SIMM: Align the notched corner of the SIMM with the key on the end of the socket and insert the SIMM fully into the socket at a 45-degree angle, as shown below. 10 Replace the Cover and Connect All Cables 1. Replace the cooling duct/cover: NOTE Cooling Duct/Cover Hook Install the cooling duct/cover before replacing the NetServer cover. The cooling duct/cover must be installed to avoid damage to the NetServer caused by lack of proper cooling.
