NOTE: Do not log in if you pass the "Press spacebar NOW to invoke the Last Known Good screen" option, because this will wipe out the configuration you want. Reboot the computer and try again. 3. Once your computer is operational again, double check all of the hardware and software configuration changes you wish to make. Look specifically for conflicts with parts of the existing system configuration that are not being changed.
During system configuration, the Netraid Utility on the HP NetServer Navigator CDROM helps you set logical disk size in the Disk Array Configuration process. If the boot drive is on the Disk Array Controller, set the logical disk size of the boot partition to 2048 MB or less. • Booting from the Embedded SCSI Controller Non-disk array systems boot from the drive with the lowest SCSI address. HP recommends SCSI ID 0 for the boot drive.

The Installation Assistant provides on screen instructions for configuring your system and installing BackOffice Small Business Server. Manual Installation of BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0 for the E 40, 45, and 50 The following three steps are applicable to the HP NetServer E 40, E 45, E 50.
2. Click on the Drivers tab. A list of installed SCSI Adapter drivers are displayed. To install the latest SCSI Adapter driver: 3. Select the current Adaptec driver that is displayed. Click the Remove button. Then click the Add button. A list of additional SCSI adapters appears in the Install Driver screen. 4. Click the Have Disk button. 5. When the Install From Disk window appears, insert the Drivers Diskette into drive A: and enter the path name A:\7800. Click OK to install the driver. 6.
Installing HP NetServer Ethernet Adapter The HP NetServer Ethernet adapter comes with a 32-bit NDIS 3.0 driver which supports both a high performance bus master and I/O-mapped mode of data transfer. HP recommends that you use the bus master mode since your HP NetServer system supports bus mastering. Create the Diskettes You Need Before you begin, follow step 1 of the section "Manual Installation of BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0 for the E 40, 45, and 50" to create the Drivers Diskette.
"HP 10/100TX PCI LAN Adapter" (for a J3171) or "HP NetServer 10/100TX PCI Ethernet Adapter" (for a D5013) and press OK to select it. 6. The HPSet Setup loads all the required driver files and scans the computer resources to determine the settings assigned to your adapter. It also adds an HPSet icon to the Control Panel for future use of HPSet. 7. Click the Test button in the HPSet screen to run diagnostics.
Steps for Installation 1. Double-click on the Network Icon in the Control Panel. 2. Select the Adapter tab and double-click the "HP NetServer 10/100TX PCI Adapter" found in the Network Adapters list box. This will launch the HPSet utility. 3. Click on the Fault Tolerance button. 4. The Adapter Fault Tolerance dialog box appears. Click OK to continue. Adapter Fault Tolerance will automatically be installed. 5.
1. Open the Control Panel. Double click on the Tape Devices icon. 2. The Tape Devices program will try to auto detect the tape drive. 3. If it correctly identifies the drive, it will display Hewlett-Packard Colorado T4000 tape drive. If not, Click on Hewlett-Packard, and then on the T4000 tape drive. Click OK to install the driver. 4. You will be prompted to insert the Windows NT Server CD-ROM into the drive. Click OK to install the driver. 5.
4. Using the setup disks supplied with Windows NT SBS, insert diskette #1 to boot the system. While loading the first setup disk, when the message "Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration..." is displayed, press F6. 5. Insert Diskette #2 when prompted. 6. Press "S" to select specify at the screen that reads "Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices...". 7. Select "Other" and press enter. 8.

Remove the SCSI driver's diskette from the drive and press enter reboot the system. 23. The system will resume the NT Setup process. It will do a check disk and reboot the system automatically. 24. The GUI installation part starts. Click "I Agree" to accept the license option and follow the instructions on the display. 25. Enter user name, company and CD key. 26.
B. Press F2 to enter setup C. Select "Configuration" menu. D. Select "Embedded NIC" E. Press + or - to select enable. F. Press F10, select "yes" and press enter to save changes. 2. Enter your company information on the data entry panel and click next to continue. 5. Click OK at the "Dr. Watson for Windows NT" error message that reads "... sysocmgr.
18. Click on Finish. 19. Clear the NT error logs in the event viewer. 20. Perform a Shutdown and restart computer. Verify that SBS comes ready with no error messages. Check the error logs in the event viewer. You should not have any error listed. If errors are found you may have to decode the information to resolve the issue. 21. Install high resolution video driver if needed. Installing pcANYWHERE32 on your HP NetServer E 60 After you install Windows NT 4.
• HP J3171 / HP D5013 or Intel 8255x LAN adapter Installation Issues for the E 60 Windows NT SBS 4.5 does not have the appropriate driver for the following integrated adapters on the E60. • The embedded Adaptec 7895 SCSI • The embedded Intel 82559 LAN adapter • ATI Rage video Installation Issues for the E 800 Windows NT SBS 4.5 does not have the appropriate driver for the following integrated adapters on the E 800.
Tools Required for Manual Installation of BackOffice Small Business Server The following instructions will show you how to circumvent the two installation issues listed above. • HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM (Required to create driver’s diskette) • Microsoft SBS 4.5 CD-ROM 1,2,3. • Startup Diskettes 1,2,3 • One HP NetServer E50 with bundled NIC, one NetServer E60, or one NetServer E800. • No optional components were used. 12. Partition disk as needed. Please note that SBS requires a lot of free space for additional products. (2GB or larger will be fine.) It is recommended that you create all drive partitions required now. This will prevent having to change the CD-ROM drive letter after the installation is completed. 13. 24. Setup continues to copy more files to your hard disk. Remove any diskette from the drive. 25. SBS will display a message "Restarting the computer" at the bottom of the display. 26. The system will resume the NT Setup process. It will do a check disk, convert from FAT to NTFS and reboot. (You may see a support pack 3 message on the display when booting at this time.) 27. Enter user name, company. Update Computer name, domain name if needed. 28. Click to continue. 29.
37. Click to accept the license agreement. 38. Click . 39. Enter 10 digit CD Key. (Read your SBS 4.5 CD-ROM label to obtain the 10 digit CD key.) 40. Click at the installed modems screen. 41. You may change these parameters now if needed. It is recommended to complete the installation with the default and change them later. 52. Click . To restart system now. 53. Click . This is the symbol on top right of the windows frame to move the wizard to the task bar the wizard. 54. Close or hide the control panel application. 55. SBS starts running the Server Console application with a "To Do List" on the display. You can hide or exit this application if not needed. 116. This marks the completion of the SBS 4.5 installation. 117. SBS may start a "Console Management application". You can hide or exit this application if not needed. 118.
A. Partition the primary partition to 1024 MB. B. Format the primary partition using FAT. C. Press F3 to quit the installation program. D. Restart the installation program. E. At the drive partition screen, delete the 1024 MB primary partition. F. Partition the primary partition to any desired size up to the drive capacity. G. Continue with the Windows NT installation program.
Tip #4: "BOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR" error message If your system does not boot, and the screen displays an error message "BOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR," remove the Windows NT CD-ROM from the drive and reboot the system again. Tip #5: Exception access error when changing the default IP address when adding a NIC driver When installing the product you may get a Dr. Whatson Exception access violation (0xC0000005) in RUNDLL32.EXE after doing the following steps. 1.
