Tools Required for Manual Installation of BackOffice Small Business
Server
The following instructions will show you how to circumvent the two installation issues
listed above.
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM (Required to create driver’s diskette)
Microsoft SBS 4.5 CD-ROM 1,2,3.
Startup Diskettes 1,2,3
One HP NetServer E50 with bundled NIC, one NetServer E60, or one NetServer
E800.
No optional components were used.
Manual Installation of BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5 for the E
40, E 45, and E 50
1. Boot from the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM.
2. Create the "Windows NT 4.0 drivers diskette" which contains the required SCSI
driver name aic78xx.sys and NIC driver hptx.sys. You may also create the video
driver's diskette at this time.
3. Using the setup disks supplied with Windows NT SBS, insert diskette #1 to boot the
system. While loading the first setup disk, when the message “Setup is inspecting
your hardware configuration…” is displayed, press F6.
4. Insert Diskette #2 when prompted.
5. Press <Enter> to accept Auto detect of devices.
6. Insert Diskette #3 when prompted.
7. Press <Enter> at the message that reads:
Setup has recognized mass…
IDE-CDROM ….
Adaptec AHA-294x…
8. If you have new hard drives the setup utility will ask you to press <C> to continue.
9. If SBS CD-ROM disk1 is not mounted you will be asked to mount it now.
10. Verify system configuration: Keyboard, Mouse etc.
11. Select <The above list matches my computer> Press <Enter>.
