Erasing Tapes
The Erase or Format utility provided by most backup applications is the safest
and quickest method of removing data from your tapes.
NOTE Do not erase any type of T4-compatible tape with bulk erasers.
Magnetic bulk erasing removes the tracking reference points
that are placed on the tape at the factory. Without these points,
the tapes cannot be read by your tape drive.
Inserting and Removing Tape Cartridges
This section provides some basic guidelines for inserting and removing tape
cartridges.
To insert a tape cartridge into your drive:
1. Hold the tape cartridge with the metal base plate down and the tape
window facing the drive, as shown in Figure 6-1.
