To obtain drivers and utilities for non-HP components of your system, follow the appropriate Internet, BBS, or CompuServe
procedure specified by the component and network operating system manufacturers.
1. Turn on the HP NetServer and monitor.
2. Insert the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and press the
Reset button on the front of the server. The HP NetServer automatically boots from the
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM.
3. If a message requiring a user action appears, press the key and continue. Go to
the HP NetServer Navigator Main Menu. If the language needs to be changed, select
“Set Preferences.”
4. Select the “Readme File" for the latest information to help you install your HP
NetServer. Read it carefully before continuing your installation.
NOTE Information Assistant contains the complete online documentation for
installation and troubleshooting. Information Assistant can be accessed from
the Main Menu or from another computer using the instructions in the
. Information Assistant runs on any
Windows® computer. You can also run Diagnostic Assistant to verify the
system.
5. You must remove the cover if you plan to install additional hardware such as memory,
accessory boards, or mass storage devices. If you do not intend to install additional
hardware, skip to Step 10.

Unpack and verify the contents of the shipping box against the Contents Checklist included with your
NetServer. If anything is missing or damaged, call your reseller.

Connect Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse
1. Connect the monitor, keyboard and mouse to the HP NetServer and plug in the cords to the
NetServer and to the monitor.
2. If you have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), install it and turn it on. Use the supplied serial
cable to connect the UPS to the HP NetServer. Refer to the user guide included with the UPS
for additional information.
3. Plug in both the NetServer and monitor power cords to the power supply. (Note that the UPS
comes with a special high-power cord.)
