Remove the Cover
If you are installing options, you must remove the cover. These tools are required for cover removal and
installation of accessories:
A flat 1/4 inch screwdriver and T15 TORX® driver
An antistatic service kit (3M® 8501/8502/8503 or equivalent). This kit includes a static-dissipating work
surface, a chassic clip lead, and a wrist strap.
1. Turn off the HP NetServer and disconnect the power cord.
2. Unlock the top cover using the keylock on the front control panel.
3. Loosen both top cover mounting screws on the back of the HP NetServer.
4. Slide the top cover back 0.5 inches (2 cm) and lift it straight up.

WARNING Before removing the cover, always disconnect the power cord and unplug telephone
cables. Disconnect the power cord to avoid exposure to high energy levels that can
cause burns when metal objects such as tools or jewelry short-circuit component
parts. Disconnect telephone cables to avoid exposure to shock hazard from ringing
voltages.
CAUTION Wear a wrist strap and use a static-dissipating work surface connected to the chassis
when handling components.

1. Remove the Processing Cooling Duct Cover.
2. Determine the size of the SIMMs currently on the memory board and
the size of the SIMMs to be added. Refer to the Supported Memory
Configurations illustrations to choose the appropriate configuration.
3. Align the notch on the SIMM with the key in the socket.

4. Insert the SIMM at a 70° angle into the socket and tilt the SIMM
to 45° until the retaining clips snap into place.
5. Reinstall the board, fully seating it in the connector by closing
the retaining latches and reinstalling the Processor Cooling
Duct Cover. Verify that the board is properly aligned and
seated before tightening the Processor Cooling Duct Cover
screws.
