Configure the HP NetServer and
Install Additional ISA Boards
Replace All Covers and
Connect Cables
WARNING Do not install ISA boards until instructed to
do so by the Configuration Assistant.
1. Turn on the HP NetServer and monitor.
2. If the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM is not currently loaded, insert it into the CD-ROM drive and press the Reset
button on the front of the server. The HP NetServer automatically boots from the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM.
If a message requiring a user action appears, press the key and continue.
3. Go to the HP NetServer Navigator Main Menu and select “Configuration Assistant."
4. If you have installed all accessories except ISA boards, go to the Express Configuration Menu and follow the on-screen
instructions to configure your HP NetServer.
NOTE If you are installing one accessory at a time, go to the Custom Configuration Menu and select the Help
button. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the HP NetServer. Repeat the process for each
accessory installed.

1. Reassemble the HP NetServer.
Verify that the Processor Cooling Duct Cover is properly closed.
2. Replace all covers.
3. Connect the power cord and all other cables.
NOTE Even at low room temperatures, all covers and panels
must be in place to provide controlled airflow for system
reliability.

The Diagnostic Assistant is also located on a flexible disk mounted inside your HP NetServer cabinet in a plastic
pouch. The utility is also available in a NetServer utilities module on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM.
: Enables you to print or view the current system configuration, including details about the boards that are
detected in the system and the resources that are allocated to each.
: Enables you to conveniently generate any flexible diskette available on the NetServer Navigator CD-ROM. For
example, you can create the following diskettes: BIOS Update, EISA Configuration, NOS Drivers, NetServer Assistant, PowerWise
Assistant, Diagnostic Assistant and Remote Assistant Upgrade.
: Lets you view descriptions of errors that occur during the Power-On Self Test (POST) and tells you how to
handle the errors.
: Describes server management events and lets you review a list of errors and other system events.
