Installing Debian GNU/Linux on an HP Netserver

2. At the prompt Where should the Lilo boot loader be installed?

select

/dev/sda install Lilo in the MBR

and press Enter.

3. At Alternate, select Reboot the System and press Enter.

4. At the prompt Reboot the system ? select Yes and press Enter.

5. Remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive.

Congratulations!! You have completed the installation of Debian 2.2 potato release!

Post Installation

Please put the CD back in drive AFTER Linux starts booting.

Setting Up the Passwords and Accounts

1. At Debian System Configuration for the prompt Shall I install md5

passwords? select Yes and press Enter.

2. At Debian System Configuration for the prompt Shall I install shadow

passwords? select Yes and press Enter.

3. At Debian System Configuration, select Ok and press Enter.

4. Set the root password for your machine.

5. When prompted Shall I create a normal user account now? select

Yes and press Enter.

6. Enter all relevant information about the user to be added to the system.

Packages Selection and Setup

1. At the prompt Shall I remove the pcmcia packages? select Yes and

press Enter.

2. At the prompt Do you want to use a PPP connection… select No and

press Enter.

3. At APT Configuration, for select Scan another CD? select No and press

Enter.

4. For Add another apt source? select No and press Enter.
