Requirements

Server: Red Hat 8.0 Professional is certified for use with HP Server tc2110, tc3100,

tc4100, lp1000r [1.13/1.26/1.4 GHz] and lp2000r [1.13/1.26/1.4 GHz]

Hardware settings: You will need to know the following information to complete the

installation:

· The monitor's resolution, color depth, and refresh rate.

· The display (graphics) adapter manufacturer and model number.

· The Ethernet card manufacturer, model number, IRQ, and I/O address.

· IP address for the server

· Subnet Mask

· Default Gateway

· Machine Name

· Domain Name

Other requirements:

· Red Hat Linux 8.0 Professional CD-ROM.

· A minimum of 128MB of RAM (256MB or more recommended).

· A full installation of Red Hat Linux 8.0 Professional requires around 4.5 GB

· One or more Network Interface Cards (NIC).

· One or more clean/new hard drives.

· Latest system BIOS update. (http://www.hp.com)

Installing Red Hat Linux 8.0 Professional 1. Power on the server, and insert the Red Hat Linux 8.0 Professional Installation CD in the CD tray to start the installation. 2. The NOS will boot and display the boot prompt. Press Enter. If you would like to pick the order in which drivers are loaded, enter the command: linux noprobe 3. At the Language selection screen, select your language then press Next. 4. At the Keyboard Configuration screen, select your keyboard. Press Next. 5.

NOTE: Click on the other drives to deselect them. Additional Size Options: You will have the opportunity to choose the following additional options: - Fixed Size (MB) - Fill all space up to (MB) - Fill to maximum allowable size - Leave at fixed size - Force to be a primary partition - Check for Bad Blocks Leave the above items unchecked, unless you want to check for bad blocks. If you choose this option, be aware that the check will take a considerable amount of time, depending on drive size. D. Click OK.

C. Click OK. Click Next. 12. At the boot loader configuration screen, you need to accomplish the following tasks: -- Choose "change boot loader" to change to LILO or NO BOOT LOADER, otherwise, leave the default of GRUB. -- Verify that "Red Hat Linux" is selected as the default operating system to boot. -- Choose whether to create a boot loader password or not. (The default is none).

A. The first step is to select the video card. The installer should have already probed the card. Verify that the correct card was identified with the proper amount of RAM. Click Next. B. At the Monitor Configuration screen, select your Monitor. Entering wrong horizontal and/or vertical sync rate may damage your monitor. Please consult your system documentation. Click Next. C.
