Chapter 8 Mounting the HP NetServer in an HP Rack System/E or Rack System/U

NOTE If you have the older HP Systems rack, refer to Chapter 13,

Alternative Rack Mounting. If you are mounting the server in a

non-HP rack, see the documentation in the non-HP rack

accessory kit.

The LT 6000r requires four EIA units of space in the rack. Before mounting the

server, plan the server’s location in the rack relative to other rack components.

Proper placement is vital for safety and operating efficiency. For more details, see

the HP NetServer Rack Installation Road Map and the HP NetServer Rack

Assembly and Cabling Reference Guide.

NOTE Mounting the LT 6000r in its rack may or may not be the final

step in the installation procedure. If the server is completely

configured by the vendor before delivery to the customer, then

mounting the server in the rack might be the last step. If the

vendor configures the server at the customer’s site, installation

of the network operating system (NOS) and other software

might occur after the NetServer is mounted in the rack.

CAUTION The LT 6000r weighs up to 100 lbs (45 kgs).

CAUTION If other components will be mounted in the rack below the

LT 6000r, install those components before mounting the

server.

Safety Precautions

Always keep the following safety and environmental issues in mind, especially if

you install the LT 6000r in a non-HP rack environment.

• Maximum Recommended Ambient Temperature. The maximum

recommended ambient temperature of the room is 35

C (95

F).

• Elevated Operating Ambient Temperature. The ambient operating

temperature within a closed or multi-unit rack assembly may exceed the
