2 Preparing for the Upgrade

This chapter explains the steps to take before you begin the upgrade:

Gather the tools you need.

Back up your data.

Save your current configuration settings.

Check the internal event log.

Tools You Need

To install this accessory you need an anti-static service kit (3M



8501/8502/8503

or equivalent). This kit includes a static-dissipating work surface, a chassis clip

lead, and a wrist strap.

If you need to remove the NetServer from a rack, you will also need some

additional tools. Refer to the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r Installation Guide and

your rack documentation for further details.

Back Up Your Data

Before you start the upgrade, you must back up all hard disk drives and verify that

the backup can be restored.

Save the Current Configuration Settings

Before you start the upgrade, follow these instructions to preserve the current

configuration settings.

1. Close all applications, log off all users, and shut down the network

operating system.

2. Write down all system configuration details from the Setup utility:
