45xx Modular Disk Subsystem Manual for G-Series Releases—142466
1-2
The Modular Storage System
The stack of modules is supported by a pedestal that can also contain modules and
provides casters and levelers for the entire structure. Two pedestals are available:
•
The 7159 pedestal (which can contain two 45xx disk modules)
•
The 7150 pedestal (which contains other types of disk modules)
Figure 1-1
shows a modular storage system stack containing two 45xx disk modules in a
frame supported by an empty pedestal.
Up to ten 45xx disk modules (80 disk drives) can be stacked in one support structure
using a 7159 pedestal. The maximum configuration, however, must be assembled at
your site: the maximum shipping height for the 45xx subsystem is two frames and a
7159 pedestal (six modules).
