9. If you did not use COUP to add the subsystem to your system configuration, load
the new operating system image (Himalaya K-series servers only).
10. Bring the subsystem online. See “Bringing the Tape Drives Online After
Installation” in Section 3. To avoid unreliability in the modular tape subsystem, be
sure to download the most current version of controller firmware and tape drive
firmware.
11. Check the device ID for each drive CRU. See “Checking and Setting the
Device ID” in Section 3.
12. Install the cleaning cartridge in drive CRUs that have an automatic cartridge loader
(ACL). See “Installing the Cleaning Cartridge in the ACL” in Section 3 of the
5190/5194 Modular Tape Subsystem Manual.
13. Test the tape drives as described in Section 3 of the 5190/5194 Modular Tape
Subsystem Manual.
14. Review the training CD-ROM shipped with the subsystem for details on how to
operate and care for 519x drives.
