6100 BSC Programming Manual

Writing Applications that Use 6100 BSC
Value (Decimal) Description
161 An error occurred within the 6100 subsystem.
Note the contents of the detail field. If you
can reproduce the error while running a
trace (with all "CLIP" options), submit the
output from the trace to your Tandem
representative.
162 The request timed out, or a READ was cancelled
by a HALT READ request. The detail field
provides more information. The line is in
CONTROL state if the request was a READ, in
WRITE state if the request was a WRITE. In
the case of a WRITEREAD, it depends when the
error occurred. Send an EOT and either issue
a bid or prepare to receive one.
163 An EOT arrived instead of a block. The
remote station has finished its transmissions
or reset the line during error recovery. The
line is in CONTROL state; you may issue a bid.
164 A disconnect sequence (DLE EOT) arrived on the
line. The line is in DISCONNECTED state. To
proceed, you must reestablish the connection.
165 A reverse interrupt (RVI) occurred instead
of the expected ACK 0 or ACK 1. The remote
station has an urgent message to transmit.
Complete your transmissions as soon as
possible, and send an EOT to relinquish the
line. (Use a READ request to send the EOT.)
166 An ENQ arrived in response to a line bid or a
message. (The detail field tells you which.)
Retries have been attempted, unless the
request was a bid on behalf of a secondary
station. Issue a WRITE or WRITEREAD request
to make a bid, or a READ request to accept a
bid. If the ENQ arrived in response to a
message, the remote station may not have
received an acknowledgement for its last
transmission. Perhaps you sent a
conversational reply when the other station
expected an ACK. This error can also indicate
a line quality problem.
167 An EOT arrived in response to a line bid.
The other station declined the opportunity
to bid for the line. Repeat your bid. If
you get this error repeatedly, suspect a
disorder in the remote station, and disconnect
the line.
