Writing Applications that Use 6100 BSC
 Value (Decimal) Description
168 A NAK arrived in response to a line bid. The
other station isn't ready to accept a bid.
Try again later. If the error persists,
disconnect the line. This error sometimes
 indicates a line quality problem.
169 A WACK arrived in response to a line bid.
The other station is temporarily not ready
to accept a bid. Try again later. If the
 error persists, disconnect the line.
170 No ID, or an erroneous one, arrived from the
remote station. Repeat your request. If
the error persists, disconnect the line.
There could be a line quality problem or
a malfunction in the remote station.
171 There was no response to a line bid. Repeat
the request. If the error persists,
disconnect the line. There could be a line
quality problem or a malfunction in the
 remote station.
172 The received message had an error in its
format, and retries were unsuccessful. The
remote station has a disorder or uses a
message format incompatible with 6100 BSC.
The line is in CONTROL state if the request
was a READ, in WRITE state if the request was
a WRITE. In the case of a WRITEREAD, it
depends when the error occurred. Send an EOT
and either issue a bid or prepare to receive
one. If the error persists, run a trace of
the line to examine the format.
173 The received message had an error; for
instance, the block check comparison didn't
work or control characters were embedded in
 the text. Alternatively, the transmitted
message was acknowledged with NAK by the other
station. In either case, retries were
unsuccessful. There could be a line quality
problem or a malfunction in the remote
station. The line is in CONTROL state if the
request was a READ, in WRITE state if the
request was a WRITE. In the case of a
WRITEREAD, it depends when the error occurred.
Send an EOT and either issue a bid or prepare
 to receive one.
