PREFACE
This book describes the BSC protocol available for use with the
CP6100 I/O process. The organization and content of the book
are as follows:
• Section 1 introduces the 6100 BSC protocol module. It
briefly reviews the characteristics of BSC protocol and
discusses configuration options that affect the protocol.
• Section 2 is a detailed discussion of the BSC protocol
module, its architecture and some important aspects of its
internal operation.
• Section 3 describes each request an application can make to
BSC, with guidelines for using the requests to accomplish
specific tasks.
• Appendix A is a list of file system errors CP6100 returns.
• Appendix B is a BSC programming example.
• Appendix C is an ASCII<-->EBCDIC code conversion table.
To prepare yourself to use 6100 BSC and this book, you should
