 MODEM SIGNALS AND THEIR USE
6100 BSC uses the following modem signals:
 RS232
 Signal
 Mnemonic Function Pin
 AA Protective ground 1
AB Signal reference (signal ground) 7
 BA Transmit data (TxD) 2
 BB Receive data (RxD) 3
 DB Transmit clock (TxC) 15
 DD Receive clock (RxC) 17
 DA Terminal-supplied transmit clock 24
 (TxC0)
CA Request to send (RTS) 4
CB Clear to send (CTS) 5
CC Data set ready (DSR) 6
CF Data carrier detect (DCD) 8
CD Data terminal ready (DTR) 20
The RS232 line interface module (LIM) also connects to the
following signals, but BSC doesn't use them:
 Signal
 Mnemonic Function Value Pin
SCF Secondary carrier detect Ignored* 12
SBA Secondary data transmit Always 0 14
SCA Secondary request to send Always OFF 19
 CE Ring indicator Ignored 22
 CH/CI Data rate select/indicator ON | Ignored** 23
 * Frequent transitions in this signal may cause a modem
error. It is best to leave an open circuit.
** This signal is ON if connected by switch settings to the
LIM driver; it is ignored if connected to the LIM receiver.
The rest of this section describes how BSC uses the modem
 signals.
