Other important features of the 6100 MPS-B module are:
• The module supports a single multipoint asychronous or byte-
synchronous link.
• You can use either switched or leased lines, and either half-
or full-duplex modems.
• The maximum data rate on a link is 19200 bits per second.
• The electrical interface must be RS-232.
• An LIU running 6100 MPS-B can represent a master station or a
slave station. That is, the 6100 MPS-B protocol module
assumes the role of a master station to deliver a message to
one or more slave stations (selection state), or it gives up
master status to one of the other stations on the link and
assumes the role of a slave station to accept a message
(polling state).
• Two different data formats are supported--free format or ENVOY
format.
• Request errors encountered by 6100 MPS-B are returned in the
request/response buffer, rather than as file system errors.
