Using TSM to Test a 6760 Adapter, SACs, and
Attached Devices
help for information about the available tests. Run these tests in the order shown.
If all these tests pass, go on to Step 6.
6. If one or more devices are failing through the same adapter, the problem might be
caused by the failure of:
•
The 6760 adapter logic board
•
A SAC
•
For adapters with F-SACs:
°
A fiber-optic cable
°
A fiber-optic back-end board (BEB)
•
For adapters with S-SACs:
°
A SCSI cable
•
The module in which the device resides
Use the SCF INFO DISK, CONFIG command to find the failing paths (adapter and
SAC) through which the disk is failing.
If you suspect an adapter or a SAC, run all tests in the sequence presented in
Step 5. If any tests fail, follow the recommendation for the test. If all the tests pass,
Test Test Function
Test Verify (online
test for the
adapter)
Tests ServerNet communication with the 6760 adapter and runs
some basic tests on the adapter.
If this test fails, either the adapter or ServerNet communication with
the adapter is failing.
If this test passes, the ServerNet communication to the adapter is
working.
Responsive Test
(online test for
SACs)
Tests the SAC and verifies that the SAC is responding to
communication.
If this test fails, the SAC is faulty or there is a communication
problem communicating with the SAC. Contact your service
provider.
Test Verify (online
test for SACs)
(F-SAC only) Performs basic tests on the SAC. Verifies that the
SAC is connected and has successfully downloaded operational
firmware.
If this test fails, the SAC is defective. Contact your service provider.
Test Extended
(offline test for
SACs)
(F-SAC only) This test should be run only on a SAC that is offline.
If an active disk path is using this SAC, switch the device to another
available SAC before running this test, or stop the device before
continuing with this test.
Run this test on any failing SAC. If the test fails, the SAC is
probably defective. Contact your service provider.
