Introduction to the 6760
ServerNet/DA
This section introduces the 6760 ServerNet device adapter (ServerNet/DA). The 6760
adapter can be installed in any NonStop S-series system.
Overview
The 6760 ServerNet/DA controls external disk drives, external tape drives, and Open
SCSI devices, using a fiber-optic or SCSI interface. These interfaces are supported by
two types of ServerNet addressable controllers SACs):
•
6761 fiber-optic ServerNet addressable controller (F-SAC)
•
6762 SCSI ServerNet addressable controller (S-SAC)
The 6760 adapter logic board has space to mount four plug-in cards (PICs). Each PIC
contains one SAC. The logic board provides the common resources required to
support either type of SAC.
Appendix A lists 6760 ServerNet/DA components.
Fiber-Optic Devices Supported
The fiber-optic interface controls external tape and disk drives.
