Tape Driver Performance Considerations
Tape Driver Performance Considerations
If you want to configure a tape drive located up to 2 kilometers away from the server,
choose F-PIC connectivity.
If you want to configure a high-performance tape drive, use S-PIC connectivity. The
S-PIC is rated at 40 MB/sec, compared to 5 MB/sec for the F-PIC. Also, do not use
daisy chaining.
If you want both high performance and distance, use S-PIC connectivity with the
2-kilometer SCSI extender (see Extending the SCSI Interface on page 1-14).
6760 Configuration Information
The 6760 adapter can be installed in the following slots:
•
Processor enclosure: slots 53 and 54
If slots 53 and 54 are not being used for ServerNet expansion boards (SEBs) or
modular ServerNet expansion boards (MSEBs), these slots can be used for 6760
adapters. Slots 51 and 52 are normally reserved for SEBs or MSEBs, but if there is
no plan to further expand the system, slots 51 and 52 can also be used for 6760
adapters.
•
I/O enclosure: slots 51, 52, 53, and 54
For a detailed description of slot assignment restrictions, refer to the NonStop S-Series
Planning and Configuration Guide.
