3. Push the cable connector into the appropriate SAC port on the adapter. Push in the
connector until it clicks into place (see Figure 2-6).
4. Label both ends of the fiber-optic cable so that when cables are removed in the
future, you can determine the proper location of each cable. For example, if the
cable connects SAC 1 of the adapter in slot 53 of processor enclosure 02 to disk
module A1, you could make the following label:
G02S53SAC1DMA1 (Group 02, Slot 53, SAC 1, disk module A1)
5. When all the cables are connected to the adapter, remove the ESD wriststrap from
your wrist and disconnect the grounding clip. Store the ESD kit in a convenient
location.
6. Use two cable ties to secure the fiber-optic cables to a cable support below the
adapter (see Figure 2-7). Wrap the first cable tie around the base of the Y
connector (at the single cable end), and the second tie between the cables going
to the SAC. When properly tied, the cable cannot be accidentally pulled up or
down, providing strain relief for the fiber-optic cables.
