Removing and Reinstalling a 6760 Adapter
8. If you will reuse the cables connected to this adapter, relabel the cables to indicate
the new adapter location. Attach a new label to both ends of each cable.
9. Starting with SAC 4 at the top of the adapter, disconnect each cable from the
adapter to be moved.
10. Press the ejector button on the adapter and lift the ejector to the full-open position
to disconnect the adapter from the backplane.
11. Slide the adapter partially out of the slot.
12. Remove the ESD grounding clip from the PMF CRU or IOMF CRU and attach it to
any unpainted metal surface on the adapter frame (see Figure 2-9).
13. Use one hand to support the weight of the adapter and, with the other hand, slide
the adapter all the way out of the slot and set the adapter on the antistatic mat.
Note that the 6760 adapter with four SACs installed weighs approximately 7.3
pounds (3.3 kilograms).
14. If the slot will remain unused, install a filler panel in the vacant slot.
The filler panel maintains proper air flow and reduces electromagnetic
interference (EMI).
15. Carry the adapter with the antistatic mat to the new location where you want to
reinstall the adapter.
16. To reinstall the adapter in the new slot, follow the procedure in Install the Adapter
on page 2-9.
17. Use the SCF ADD command to add configured device paths for the devices that
will connect to this adapter in its new location.
18. Reconnect the cables to the proper SACs, beginning with SAC 1 at the bottom of
the adapter.
19. Use the SCF START command to start each device connected to this adapter.
Caution. Do not, under any condition, connect cables to a 6760 adapter unless all disk
processes to that disk module are stopped. If the disk processes are not stopped and the cable
paths are moved to locations that do not match the configuration database, it is possible to
corrupt disk data (see Verify That Cables Match Configuration Database
on page D-6).
