Configuring the 6760 ServerNet/DA
and Attached Devices
This section describes how to configure the devices attached to a 6760 adapter and
how to view the configuration information about the 6760 adapter and its attached
devices.
Configuring a 6760 Adapter
You do not need to configure a 6760 adapter. When a 6760 adapter is installed in an
appropriate slot, it is automatically added to the system configuration database. The
name of the adapter is derived by combining the name of the storage subsystem
manager process ($ZZSTO), the adapter type (denoted SNDA), and the physical
location of the adapter. For example, a 6760 adapter located in group 01, module 01,
slot 53 would have the name:
$ZZSTO.#SNDA.GRP-1.MOD-1.SLOT-53
You can use this name in SCF STATUS and SCF INFO commands, and it is displayed
in the resulting reports of these commands.
Configuring Disk Drives Online Using SCF
If you compare the SCF configuration commands for internal disks and external disks,
you’ll notice that external disks require unique attributes when they are added to the
system configuration. Examples are given in the following topic, Examples: Adding a
Disk Drive. For a list of limitations when configuring external disk drives, see
Limitations on page 1-4.
