Viewing Status Information About Devices
You can also use the SCF STATUS ADAPTER command to display status information
about devices attached to the 6760 adapter. Status information includes the current
state of each device. For examples, see Viewing Status Information About a 6760
Adapter on page 4-1 and Viewing Status Information About Devices on page 4-10.
Troubleshooting Configuration Problems
If a 6760 adapter is not properly configured after you have installed it in a slot, you can
use the SCF INFO ADAPTER command to determine whether the slot is already
configured for a different adapter. For a detailed example of how to do this, see If the
Slot Was Previously Configured on page 2-14.
If the configuration of an adapter and its devices appears to be correct but the attached
devices are not functioning properly, there might be a hardware problem. For more
information, see the following topics and Troubleshooting Adapter and Device
Problems on page 4-19.
Troubleshooting After Installing a 6760 Adapter
If you suspect hardware problems after you’ve installed a 6760 adapter, do the
following:
1. Use the TSM package to check the hardware. See the next topic, Using TSM to
Check the Adapter Hardware.
2. Use the SCF STATUS ADAPTER, DETAIL command to check the status of all
paths to the adapter and its attached devices.
3. Use the SCF INFO ADAPTER, DETAIL command to verify proper configuration.
Using TSM to Check the Adapter Hardware
Check the status of adapter hardware using the TSM package:
1. Log on to the TSM Service Application and use the System tab of the tree pane to
select the group enclosure where the adapter resides.
2. Use the view pane to verify that the adapter is displayed in the enclosure.
The adapter should automatically appear in the view pane when it is installed into
an appropriate slot.
Note. This procedure is limited to checking the adapter hardware. For information about
testing SACs and external devices, see Using TSM to Test a 6760 Adapter, SACs, and
Attached Devices on page 4-20.
