3. If the adapter is displayed in the view pane, go to Using TSM to Test a 6760
Adapter, SACs, and Attached Devices on page 4-20. If the adapter is not
displayed, go to Step 4.
4. If the adapter doesn’t appear in the view pane, do the following:
a. Remove the adapter from the slot (for instructions, see Removing and
Reinstalling a 6760 Adapter on page 2-20) and inspect the adapter connector
and the pins on the backplane for damage.
b. Reinstall the adapter. (See Install the Adapter on page 2-9.)
c. Verify that each LED is in its normal state.
On the 6760 adapter, the green power-on LED should be lit and the amber
fault LED should light briefly and then become unlit shortly after the adapter is
installed in the slot.
If the adapter has F-SACs, the amber carrier LED on each F-SAC should be lit
when the fiber-optic carrier is detected. For a complete description of all LEDs,
see Indicator LEDs on page 2-10.
d. If the adapter still doesn’t appear in the view pane, contact your service
provider.
e. If the adapter appears in the view pane but the color changes to red or yellow,
see Using TSM to Test a 6760 Adapter, SACs, and Attached Devices on
page 4-20.
Comparing Physical Locations to Find Failing Devices
If you are having trouble accessing multiple external disk or tape devices, note the
location of the devices to determine whether the common point of failure is a 6760
adapter or one of its SACs. For example, if $DISK01-P, $DISK02-P, and $DISK03-P
are all failing and if all three disk paths are attached to the adapter in group 1, slot 53,
issue the SCF command:
-> STATUS ADAPTER $ZZSTO.#SNDA.GRP-1.MOD-1.SLOT-53, DETAIL
To see an example of displayed output, see Example 4-1 on page 4-3.
This command also displays all the names, locations, and states of the paths of all the
disk drives that are attached to that adapter and SAC. If all device paths through a
SAC are DOWN or HARDDOWN, this probably indicates that the SAC is the single
point of failure.
Determining the Name of a Device
If you know the physical location of an external device but you are not sure of its name,
issue the SCF INFO ADAPTER, DETAIL command for the adapter that the device is
