Using TSM to Test a 6760 Adapter, SACs, and
Attached Devices
3. If the adapter appears in the view pane, click on the adapter you want to test (if 
there is a hardware problem, the adapter is red or yellow in color) and do the 
following: 
4. If the adapter looks normal in the view pane, check whether all SACs are displayed 
in the Attributes dialog box, then do the following: 
5. You can run the following tests on either the 6760 adapter or individual SACs. 
Click on the component (adapter or SAC) you want to test. Use the TSM online 
If... Then...
The adapter looks 
normal
Go on to Step 4. 
The adapter is red The adapter initialization of the logic board has probably 
failed. Have your service provider replace the logic board. 
The adapter is yellow Double-click the adapter to display the attributes dialog box. 
Then select an adapter. 
Note the Subcomponent state of the adapter (for more 
information on any state, select it and press the help key). If 
a problem is indicated, check the Service state of the 
individual SACs. If a state for a SAC is abnormal, it could be 
caused by:
•
POST failing on one or more SACs 
•
Download of operational code for SAC has failed 
•
Failing logic board 
See the Alarm Summary for additional information about 
current errors (see the Alarms menu). The possible SAC 
alarms are: 
•
Port Failed alarm. 
•
Operation Code Download Failed alarm. 
Run Test Verify on adapter for either alarm (see Step 5). 
If either test fails, adapter is defective. If test passes, SAC 
is defective. Contact your service provider for replacement. 
If... Then...
All SACs are not displayed Check the status of $ZZSTO. The $ZZSTO process must 
be running. If it is not running, contact your service 
provider. 
If $ZZSTO is running, the SACs that are not displayed are 
defective. Contact your service provider to have them 
replaced. 
The adapter is red or 
yellow
Return to Step 3.
