Introduction
This section provides an introduction to the 6763 Common Communication ServerNet
adapter (CCSA) for NonStop NS-series and NonStop S-series servers.
This section includes the following topics:
Overview of the CCSA
The 6763 Common Communication ServerNet adapter (CCSA) provides a
NonStop S-series integration platform for Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) protocol
communications.
There are two functionally-identical versions of the CCSA:
CCSA, product number 6763
CCSA-2, product number 6763-2
The 6763-2 CCSA-2 has a higher-capacity on-board power supply than the 6763
CCSA and can support more SS7TE3 PICs than the CCSA. In NonStop server
manuals, both models are referred to as the 6763 CCSA unless it is necessary to
distinguish between the two models. For detailed information about the models of
CCSA and PICs, see Plug in Cards (PICs) for SS7 ServerNet Adapters on page 1-7.
For NonStop systems, the CCSA provides the functional counterpart of the ST-2000
Communications System. The ST-2000 is a separate, front-end communications
controller requiring a token-bus LAN to connect to the host, whereas the CCSA is
installed in a ServerNet adapter slot either in a NonStop S-series processor enclosure
or in a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure:
In I/O enclosures, CCSAs can be installed in slots 51, 52, 53, and 54.
In processor enclosures with PMF 2 CRUs, CCSAs can be installed in slots 51, 52,
53, and 54 if those slots are not being used for SEBs or MSEBs. In processor
enclosures with older PMF CRUs, CCSAs can be installed in slots 53 and 54 only.
Because NonStop S-series I/O enclosures can be part of NonStop NS-series servers,
NonStop NS-series servers can include the CCSA.
For an introduction to NonStop S-series systems, refer to the NonStop S-Series
Planning and Configuration Guide. For an introduction to NonStop NS-series systems,
refer to the NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide.
